MBNCWD SIGNS A TRIPATITE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN INTER- PARTY ADVISORY COUNCIL(IPAC) AND WOMEN IN GOVERNANCE(WIG).Date: 14TH JULY 2025.

Advocating for a better representation of women in Nigeria, the Director-General of Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development(MBNCWD), Honourable Dr Asabe Vilita Bashir today, Monday 14th July 2025 in her boardroom at the Centre signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding between IPAC and WIG for the establishment of technical working group(TWG) to drive the grassroot sensitization of women on the reserved seats for women bill in Nigeria.
The Director-General reiterated that with this bill coming to light, the Nigeria women’s underrepresentation in all elective positions will be taken care. According to her, ‘’the reserved seats for women bill seeks to rectify the imbalance through legally sanctioned gender quotas that ensure equitable access to political representation at federal, state and local government levels, she asserted.’’
She noted that, apart from the sensitization of the bill, once activated will enable for 1 seat senate, 2 seats house of representative and 3 seats in all state houses of assemble across each state.
The highlight of the event is the official signing of the tripartite agreement and a group photograph between the DG, Management and our invited guests.
