Hanifa was abducted on December 2, 2021, by Abdulmalik Tanko, the proprietor of the school.

The Director General, National Centre for Women Development, Abuja- Hon. (Dr) Asaba Vilita Bashir has condemn in strong terms the killing of Hanifa Abubakar, the five year old kano girl that was abducted and murdered by her teacher on devember, 2, 2021.

She made this statement recently in her office during a chat with some jounalist where she called on the security operative to ensure that the perpetrator of this dastardly act does not get away with it.

The DG charged parents to be careful with the kind of schools they enroll their children into and she called on other sister agencies in charge of education of these young Nigerians to take measures in ensuring that it never happens again. According to her, "our education environment must be devoid of these criminal elements in order to have a qualitative education for young Nigerians", she stated.
